Tonight marks the second time the Pride Community Advisory Council will meet to represent the community. This team was assembled in 2016 after then Executive Director Stephen Whitburn was let go, prompting many in the community to ask for representation.

The Advisory Board’s first meeting drew representatives from almost every major LGBT organization.

“We are very encouraged by the response of the community and the turnout at our first meeting” stated Barbara Crusberry (Executive Director of the Greater San Diego Business Association), and the council’s Co-chair along with Pride Co-Founder City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez.

According to a press release, the first meeting discussed having permanent Pride awards and themes for this year’s Pride parade, “focus on voter registration, a get out the vote drive, and a pride event at the Tijuana border focusing on ‘LGBT Pride Has No Borders.’”

Any LGBT organization can have a representative on the Advisory Council.

Pride Community Advisory Council meeting is on Thursday, January 25 at the San Diego Pride office.
