Gary Holt out as San Diego Gay Men's Chorus artistic director

SAN DIEGO -- Gary Holt, who has been at the helm of what is now the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus (SDGMC) for many years, directed his final concerts this weekend at the group's "The Nutcracker (Men In Tights!)" shows.

On Wednesday, Holt posted the following statement to his Facebook account, which came as a shock to many community members and longtime chorus supporters:

SAN DIEGO -- The award-winning San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) is back with its celebrated annual holiday show on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 8 pm and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 pm. This year’s show, "The Nutcracker (Men in Tights!)," takes place at the Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.

"I’ve been singing with the chorus for 15 years and absolutely love it," said Joe Gregore, SDGMC membership director. "We have so much fun. There’s nothing like being around a great group of talented guys and putting on incredible shows throughout the year."

San Diego Gay Men's Chorus is Feelin' Groovy

SAN DIEGO -- It’s time to step back into the psychedelic Sixties with the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) as they present "Feelin’ Groovy — Songs of the ‘60s," the greatest hits of that free-spirited yet socially charged decade.

Tickets are now on sale or the July 27 and 28 shows at the Birch North Park Theatre.

“This concert is jam-packed with amazing Sixties music,” artistic director Gary Holt said. “We’ll be singing, dancing and yes — groovin’ — to Motown soul, the California hippie scene, the British Invasion and everything in between.”

San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program to honor Gary Holt

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program (SDVLP) said it will recognize Gary Holt at its annual "Justice For All Celebration," to be held next month.

Holt, who owns a San Diego-based law firm and also works as the artistic director of the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus, will be honored as "Pro Bono Attorney of the Year" for his work with SDVLP, which serves some of the most vulnerable individuals in the county by providing pro bono legal services.

Hot on the heels of sold-out performances by gay men’s choruses in Seattle, Houston and Minneapolis, the San Diego chorus production features show-stopping pop hits, fabulous classic cultural flair, and dazzling dance moves all set to a live eight-piece orchestra.

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) will present "Yule Tube," the chorus’ annual holiday concert, at 8 pm Saturday, Dec. 3, and 3 pm Sunday, Dec. 4, at the historic Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.

The chorus says that the concert, which is a seasonal celebration, will feature music of the season, dancing and other surprises.
