The one thing you can start tomorrow and begin to lose weight

If you take in more than your body is burning up than it has to pull from its reserves.

It’s the New Year and that means new attempts at fad diets, cleanses, or “challenges”.

The things that Karen from accounting is doing with your group of coworkers for the next thirty days most likely has some kernels of fitness-truth that will bring about weight loss.

But which is it: carb cutting, juice only, no white foods, only eating within an eight-hour window…?

"Cozy" holiday foods may need extra help digesting

Digestive enzymes are NOT probiotics.

Fall is the time where we get a bit cozier, yes even here in San Diego, and with that comes more “cozy” foods.

This week’s article is about some easy supplements and tweaks you can make to be around food sensitivities you may not even be aware you have.

Think about having a big breakfast that has awesome pancakes, then go all-in with eggs and bacon.

Lift like a bodybuilder not powerlifter

Focus on the muscle group you’re targeting, and the burn will blow you away.

This kind of “number counting” extends to my clients who feel they aren’t doing lifts that are worthwhile if the lift isn’t what they consider to be “heavy”.

Numbers like this would all be relevant if you and I are powerlifters, competing for who could move the most amount weight.

But I’m not; are you?

Stop doing this at the gym!

Don't let your good intentions in fitness be poisoned by this negative internal dialogue.

Stop doing this at the gym!

Have you ever thought these things at the gym or even when just considering working out?

"I don't belong here."

"I'm going to look like an idiot."

"It's just too much work at this point, I should just accept it."

You aren't unique in this; most of us have, and occasionally still do have them.

Five things that are killing your workout

Small consistent changes in yourself are the gold standard!

You've made it to the gym and really, that's the hardest part.

But now that you're here there are some things that can easily be avoided in order to utilize your hour (yup it shouldn't have to take more than an hour) most effectively.

1) Not knowing how long you've been resting for.

Location, location, location

Grant Foreman gives location equal importance with his clients.

In a city of options, deciding on where to get your fitness in can be a little overwhelming. #firstworldproblems

Some of my clients prefer to meet outdoors in a park, others prefer we hit it at a gym and then even add on days at a yoga studio on their own.

Don't punish yourself for living life

Grant Foreman is SDGLN's fitness expert.

January and February was an amazing time for me spiritually, with my ten day silent mediation course, and energetically, with a perfect snowy trip to Paris and London.

This also means I had ten days of literally sitting on my butt eating little followed shortly after by a week of foie gras, red wine, and croissants.

Fitness works if you just stick to your best 'thing'

SDGLN's own Grant Foreman talks fitness and diet.

Taking breaks and enjoying the holidays is part of life and should be celebrated.

If you know what's good for you you'll start working now to keep those extra lb's from sticking around!

Time is of the essence here.

January is busy for us personal trainers usually, and these past couple weeks have lived up to that.
