Australian tennis star comes out by announcing birth of son by her partner

NEW YORK – What a month for Australian tennis star Casey Dellacqua. She gets bounced out of the U.S. Open on Tuesday and announces the birth of her son thanks to partner Amanda … thus outing herself to the world.

Dellacqua gushed about the couple’s newborn, Blake Benjamin, born about three weeks ago, without making a big deal about coming out.

“I think you all know I’m pretty normal, so my whole thing in life is family, and it’s been a really exciting time for me,” Dellacqua told the media.

Lesbian sues company for discrimination

PETALUMA, Calif. -- A Cloverdale woman is suing a Petaluma computer company for discrimination, saying she was recruited to move from out of state for a job, then dismissed after she, a lesbian, objected to being shown a religious video by an outspoken preacher who believes gays are sinners.

Attorneys for Ginny White filed suit in Sonoma County Superior Court last month against GC Micro, a multi-million dollar company based in Petaluma that, according to its website, supplies computer equipment and services to government agencies, the aerospace industry and Fortune 1,000 companies.

Kaitlyn Hunt update: Another plea deal offered to lesbian teen

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. – A high school cheerleader arrested on felony sexual assault charges for her relationship with a 14-year-old female classmate has been offered a plea deal on her 19th birthday.

Kaitlyn Hunt is being urged to accept the new deal which would keep her out of jail and prevent her from being registered as a sex offender - if she pleads no contest to two misdemeanor battery counts and one felony count for interference of child custody.

Alabama judge validates lesbian mom’s visitation rights to her children

MOBILE, Ala. -- In what is believed to be a first in Alabama, a judge in Mobile County, Alabama has granted standard visitation rights to a lesbian mother without any overnight restriction on unmarried partners.

SEATTLE -- San Diego’s mixed martial arts fighter Liz Carmouche beat Brazil’s Jessica Andrade on Saturday night in a battle of two openly gay UFC stars.

Carmouche, a former Marine, scored a technical knockout in the second round after going on the attack against Andrade.

The bout make history as the first women’s bantamweight match aired on national television and the first one to match two lesbian fighters.

Lesbian police officer accused of terrorizing ex-lover

GREENOCK, Scotland -- A police officer at the center of a lesbian love triangle waged a hate campaign against her former lover.

Heather Atkinson, 27, terrorized her ex-partner Lauren Jenkins after dis-covering she had started seeing a mutual friend.

When she spotted Ms Jenkins and her new partner Nicola Porteous as they drove through their hometown of Greenock, Inverclyde, she followed them and this led to a terrifying high-speed chase over 13 miles. The pair only managed to escape after racing away at 80mph last year.

Lesbian lawmaker running for Maryland governor

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Maryland lawmaker hopes to be elected the nation’s first openly gay governor.

Delegate Heather Mizeur plans to make her campaign announcement Wednesday for the Maryland 2014 governor’s race.

Mizeur, a Democrat who has been exploring a run for months, also would become Maryland’s first female governor if elected, although women have run in the past.

“It’s a sign of how far we’ve come as a state that an openly gay person can be a serious candidate for governor,” Mizeur said. “But the fact that we’re still talking about it is a sign that we still have a ways to go.”
