Decorated war vet and Senator asks Congress to stop trans military ban

Senator Tammy Duckworth has a few words to say to the government regarding trans military ban.

As word comes out about a possible guidance on banning transgender men and women serving or want to serve in the military, one veteran and Senator is speaking out against it.

Illinois Senator and veteran Tammy Duckworth was sworn into office this year. She served in the U.S. Army from 1992 to 2014.

Trump’s war on transgender service members

"Today, it is surprising to me that amid several wars that need every able person who wants to serve our transgender patriots would be excluded. "

The first punch was President Trump’s ban against transgender service members. In his inimitable style of communicating to the American public the order came in the form of a tweet:

Because this has come up a couple times, let's talk about Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger...

As the character was initially written, his "point" was that he did not want to be in the army, and was pulling stunts to get a second 8 discharge. A Section 8 discharge, which is no longer in use as such, was for soldiers deemed mentally unfit for duty.

Mayor Faulconer speaks out against trans military ban

Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer supports transgender servicemembers in the military.

San Diego has the biggest military population in California. And with President Trump’s proclamation today about not allowing transgender personnel to serve in the armed forces,  many local officials spoke up in opposition.

Trump's statement cited the reason for the ban as financial, he also said branches did not need the “disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”
