McCrory signed the discriminatory and anti-LGBT House Bill 2 (HB2) into law this past March which caused a lot of controversy.

The law bans transgender people from using the restroom of which they most identify and restricts LGBT people from pursuing lawsuits based on discrimination.

NCAA pulls All championship events from North Carolina over anti-LGBT laws

Losing the NCAA men’s basketball tournament games, which Greensboro was supposed to host in 2017, will particularly sting for many residents of North Carolina.

The NCAA has withdrawn all championship events from North Carolina for the 2016-17 academic year because the state has passed several laws targeting the LGBT community, the organization announced Monday. 

The decision will affect seven NCAA championship events, including the first and second rounds of the Division I men’s basketball tournament and the women’s soccer College Cup.

North Carolina Republican urges people to ‘Keep our state straight’

If state Sen. Buck Newton (R) has his way, North Carolina will be known as the “straight” state. 

“Go home, tell your friends and family who had to work today what this is all about and how hard we must fight to keep our state straight,” Newton said at a rally Monday, according to video posted by Progress North Carolina Action.

North Carolina lawmakers filed legislation Monday to repeal the state’s extreme anti-LGBT law, which, since its passage last month, has drawn a presidential rebuke and spurred businesses to pull out of the state.
