San Diego Police warn of threatening telephone hoax

Scary phone scam reported by San Diego Police

San Diego police are warning about a telephone scam wherein the caller threatens harm to people using weaponry if a monetary sum is not paid.

In a press release issued by the SDPD on Wednesday, they say a number of complaints have recently come into the department describing the same tactic.

New details on missing person David Medina

David Medina (AKA David Bernal) has been missing since April 5.

A new development concerning the missing person’s case of San Diego LGBT member David Issac Bernal-Medina have surfaced.

San Diego police say they have found Medina’s vehicle, a 2016 GMC Terrain SUV, on I-8 near I-805. The car had been involved in an accident, but Medina, 32, was not “with the car when it was found.”

A man led the San Diego Police department on a small car chase through Hillcrest on Tuesday night, ending in a crash through a business store front on Park Boulevard and Robinson Avenue just before 9 pm.

Homophobic harassment on the rise in Hillcrest

Anti-gay threats are on the rise in Hillcrest according to some residents and employees.

Some in the Hillcrest community are concerned about the recent uptick in harassment aimed at LGBT businesses and patrons this month.

Employees and customers say they have had to deal with a multitude of cases involving individuals making homophobic cold calls, verbal abuse and dangerous pranks which seem to be targeted at gays throughout the primarily LGBT section of San Diego.
