'We Exist' documentary features SDPD officer Christine Garcia

SDPD officer Christine Garcia is featured in new documentary about trans heroes.

Documentary film maker Isley Reust is trying to educate the public about the lives of influential transgender men and women around the world. The focus is less on what people see on the outside, rather the intricate details and feelings these folks have to deal with on the inside.

“We Exist” is a 10 episode documentary series hosted by Ruest and directed by Tony Minas. 

New details on missing person David Medina

David Medina (AKA David Bernal) has been missing since April 5.

A new development concerning the missing person’s case of San Diego LGBT member David Issac Bernal-Medina have surfaced.

San Diego police say they have found Medina’s vehicle, a 2016 GMC Terrain SUV, on I-8 near I-805. The car had been involved in an accident, but Medina, 32, was not “with the car when it was found.”

A man led the San Diego Police department on a small car chase through Hillcrest on Tuesday night, ending in a crash through a business store front on Park Boulevard and Robinson Avenue just before 9 pm.

Homophobic harassment on the rise in Hillcrest

Anti-gay threats are on the rise in Hillcrest according to some residents and employees.

Some in the Hillcrest community are concerned about the recent uptick in harassment aimed at LGBT businesses and patrons this month.

Employees and customers say they have had to deal with a multitude of cases involving individuals making homophobic cold calls, verbal abuse and dangerous pranks which seem to be targeted at gays throughout the primarily LGBT section of San Diego.

Trans woman stabs man in Balboa Park, police report

Transgender female allegedly stabs male in Balboa Park according to police.

Police are on the lookout for a transgender female who stabbed a man in Balboa Park on Thursday, March 16 just before 7 pm. 

It happened underneath the Cabrillo Bridge on the 900 block of El Prado in the historic park.

Police tell San Diego Gay and Lesbian News, the 42-year-old male victim had a verbal argument with the assailant who he said was “transitioning to female."

Report: San Diego violent crime rates lowest in decades

Overall crime in San Diego decreased by 2.3 percent in 2016 from 2015, with violent crime decreasing 4.5 percent.

In front of the San Diego Police Department Headquarters, Mayor Kevin L. Man arrested in brutal North Park hammer attack

Louis Cedarholm, 29, entered a North Park auto shop and assaulted a man with a hammer 13 times to the head.

A brutal attack on Monday which left a victim in critical condition has led to the arrest of a suspect.

The assault took place at Jack’s Muffler Service on University Avenue near Mississippi Street in North Park Sunday evening.

Jury in San Diego Pride loincloth case reach a verdict
