SD Pride Board and community leaders reach an agreement

The San Diego Pride Board and community leaders have pushed through their differences and Pride will go on as usual.

San Diego, CA – San Diego Pride is pleased to announce that an agreement with LGBT leaders has cleared the way for the community to come together in support of the 2017 San Diego Pride events.

No progress made in Committee/SD Pride Board stalemate

Community Negotiating Committee are still not satisfied with the San Diego Pride Board's lack of response.

In a month-long battle with the San Diego Pride Board, the Community Negotiating Committee, put in place to arrange terms on the future direction of the organization, has released a letter stating that talks have “gone nowhere.”

Word is coming through SDGLN from a reliable source that  Executive Director of San Diego Pride Stephen Whitburn is no longer with the organization.

Several sources have told SDGLN that Whitburn was asked to step aside, although we are not able to confirm this through San Diego Pride after multiple e-mail attempts.

An open letter about the 2015 San Diego Pride Parade

Pride was recently contacted by members of the transgender community who notified us of their plan to conduct multiple “die-ins” during which individuals will lie on the street, stopping the parade, while others encircle them with crime scene tape and read the names of trans* individuals whom we’ve lost this year to murder and suicide.
