County Clerk Ernest Dronenburg’s Prop 8 petition has now become fundraising fodder for the anti-gay hate group, the National Organization for Marriage, which is urging its supporters to bombard the County Supervisors with calls and letters.
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors plans to meet in a closed session today to discuss what to do about renegade County Clerk Ernest Dronenburg, who failed in his bid to persuade the California Supreme Court to issue a stay to halt same-gender marriages in the Golden State.
The court held that because the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was recently struck down as unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court, federally-regulated retirement and benefit plans must recognize the legal marriages of same-sex couples for purposes of spousal benefits.
A collection of LGBT figures, groups and local faith leaders will be gathering Tuesday morning at the San Diego County Administration Building downtown to protest the County Clerk's petition to halt same-gender marriages in California.
In reality, County Clerk Ernest Dronenburg is derelict of his duties, he is failing to serve all San Diegans he was elected to represent, and he deserves punishment at the ballot box should he choose to stand for re-election.
