SAN DIEGO -- The next meeting of the Hillcrest Town Council (HTC) will be held Tuesday, May 10, from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Joyce Beers Uptown Community Center, located in the Uptown District Shopping Center.
The organization was formed in 2007 to provide a voice for and enhance the quality of life for Hillcrest renters and homeowners while supporting actions that benefit the neighborhood.
Created in 1907, Hillcrest is one of the older neighborhoods in San Diego, and in 2007, was named one of the 10 best neighborhoods in America by the American Planning Association.
The organization will continue its discussion on redistricting with a presentation from HTC Steering Committee member Dave McCulloch, who will talk about the new ninth city council district that will be drawn into the city's maps by the Redistricting Commission.
Proposed maps for district boundaries will be presented and community members will be asked to share their thoughts.
A discussion on redistricting also took place at the April HTC meeting with presentations by Midori Wong, chief of staff to the Redistricting Commission; Linda Perine of the LGBT Redistricting Task Force; and McCulloch.
Other agenda items will include information from representatives of elected officials, and a presentation by Dr. Susan Little of the UCSD Owen Clinic who will discuss the "Lead The Way" HIV testing program and its new Hillcrest office space.
All Hillcrest residents are invited and encouraged to attend the meeting. For more information, click HERE.
