SAN DIEGO -- With school back in session and football season on, it's time for a pep rally!
The San Diego Ambassadors of The Trevor Project will host a "Pep Rally for Trevor!" on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 7 to 10 pm at Eden to celebrate the organization's life-saving efforts.
Event organizers are hoping that community members will come out and support their group, which works year round to raise support, funding and awareness of The Trevor Project.
"I would love to fill the stands - or the bar, as the case may be - with family and friends," chapter leader Forrest Wright said, adding that community members can support the chapter and the event in a number of ways, including buying tickets, attending, supporting the silent auction and spreading the word.
The evening event will include a hefty lineup of entertainment including performances by up-and-coming pop artist Britney Gale, local musician-comedienne-artist Laura Jane Wilcox, drag entertainer Fontasia L'Amore and well-known comic Shawn Pelofsky.
San Diego State University's Cheer Team, Dance Team, and Drum Line will also be present to keep the energy high and add to the pep rally feel.
Founded in 1998, The Trevor Project is a national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.
"Crisis intervention and suicide prevention is serious work, but in the spirit of celebrating life, The San Diego Ambassadors are taking a night to thank their supporters, allies and friends," said Curt Janka, a member of the Ambassador's communication team. "It’s been a year of great progress on the local level as the Trevor message of tolerance, awareness and intervention has been presented to every San Diego Unified School District counselor, from elementary through high school."
The group hopes to continue to reach more schools throughout San Diego County in 2012.
General admission tickets for the event are $57, with VIP tables of four being sold for $460. The VIP package includes table seats during the show, hosted hors d'oeuvres, desserts and bottle service.
All tickets include entertainment, a sponsored bar, access to the silent auction, and select appetizers.
Organizers also say that some great news will be shared during the evening, so community members are encouraged to attend the event to hear the news and learn more about supporting the Trevor Project.
Attendees are encouraged to show their "Trevor spirit" by wearing orange.
Eden's restaurant will also donate 10% of the total bill to The Trevor Project for anyone who dines there before the event. Diners are encouraged to make reservations by calling (619) 269-3336 and mention the "Early Bird Dinner".
Tickets for the event are available online.
