Fundraiser planned to support San Diego Pride military contingent

SAN DIEGO -- As preparations are being made for the annual military contingent in the San Diego LGBT Pride Parade, organizers are hosting a fundraiser on Thursday, May 29 at Harvey Milk's American Diner in Hillcrest.

The military contingent leads the parade, and since launching in 2011, has become a tradition in that the community looks forward to. It has made international headlines as it was one of the first such active duty military contingents in an LGBT parade.

Money raised at the Thursday evening event will help cover the costs of T-shirts for the active duty troops and veterans who participate in this year's contingent, during the 40th annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade.

The event will include happy hour drink specials, food, a raffle, and an opportunity to meet veterans, service members, community activists, and their friends and family.

The fundraiser begins at 6:30 pm at Harvey Milk's American Diner, located at 535 University Ave. in Hillcrest.
