#AIDSWalkSD update: Mark's 23rd time

Mark Padgett is Walking in AIDS Walk for the 23rd Time – Will You Join Him?

On Saturday, Sept. 26, Mark Padgett will lace up his shoes for his 23rd AIDS Walk & Run San Diego and he is grateful for the chance to play his part in the fight to end new cases of HIV/AIDS.

“It makes me happy to raise money for the organizations that have helped so many people,” said Padgett, a member of the Metropolitan Community Church San Diego Team.

“I was diagnosed with HIV 25 years ago. I am so thankful to all the people that have kept pushing and pushing to make things better for those of us living with HIV.

“It may sound corny but I am always inspired to see all the public officials like the mayor, city council members and Congress members walking with us at AIDS Walk because it reminds me of how far we’ve come,” he continued. “I didn’t think I would still be here to see all this.”

Padgett urges everyone to register for The Walk because it makes a tremendous difference.

“We have to keep walking to show people with HIV that we care,” he explained. “I walk for people who can’t walk anymore and to help with HIV awareness. Too many people don’t know that they have HIV. If they don’t know, they can’t get treatment. And, treatment is so much better now -- I want people to know that.”

It’s not too late to register! You can join Mark and all our other generous and committed participants by walking, running or donating to AIDS Walk. Register today at www.aidswalksd.org. Together, we can #BeTheGeneration that helps end new cases of HIV in San Diego.
