Local gay couple suffer home fire just before the holidays

On Monday, November 19, Bryan Larsen and Thiago Ribeiro returned home early in the morning to see the front of their house burning. It was quite a shock especially so close to the holidays.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but some are guessing it happened because of an electrical issue with an old furnace.

Their friend Kenny Imutan has created a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for the couple while they recover from the damage both to the property and their everyday lives.

Kenny says Bryan and Thiago have always been there for others and if you are lucky enough to know them you are aware of the positive and uplifting energy they exude.

"They have opened their home to many people as a place to just relax and hang out and are always willing to help," Kenny says. "They are two people you can call any time and will go out of their way for any of their friends. Even through this horrible mess, they both can manage to smile and be grateful that no one was hurt and Thor, their cat, made it out safely."

Unfortunately, they did not have renter's insurance and the money raised will go for repairs and replacement of things damaged in the fire. They will also need to move.

"We can help relieve some of the stress these two will be going through by donating what we can to help with these expenses," says Kenny.

"Anything we can give will be appreciated and will assist Bryan and Thiago in getting back on their feet to recover from this tragedy. So, let's return the favor and now it's our turn to help these two amazing people and remind them that they're not alone through this rebuilding and recovery process."
