COMMENTARY: Homophobia and haters coming to Harvard

Harvard is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, but it is getting bloodied in the world of public opinion for hosting an anti-gay conference.

The Social Transformation Conference, which will be presented April 1-2 at Harvard Northwest Science Building on the campus in Cambridge, Mass., is nothing more than a bunch of homophobic religious fanatics from the Far Right fringe who spread hate and lies about the LGBT community.

These are the same people who preach that homosexuality can be “cured,” who vow that LGBT people are perverts and child abusers, and who believe exorcism can turn gays straight and get them right with the Lord.

Is this 2011? Or is this a return to 1692 when the Salem Witch Trials began?

Watch this video produced by Bruce Wilson about the conference at Harvard:

This would be laughable if these people were not sincere about changing society back to the old ways when LGBT people were deeply in the closet, women had no rights, abortion was a crime, and Christians lead a Crusades against Islam and other faiths they fear.

The conference will focus on what is called a biblical concept known as “Reclaiming the 7 Mountains of Culture,” as Far Right conservatives seek to reclaim institutions such as academia, the government, entertainment, the media and more … all in the name of a Christian God.

Call it America’s Taliban.

Are you laughing now?

Truth Wins Out is helping to expose the message of the conference and quotes one of the speakers, Lance Wallnau, who said this during an October 2010 webcast:

"So you've got your homosexual activity, your abortion activity here, Islam coming in, you've got a financial collapse -- all of this, to those of us who are Christians, is an apocalyptic confirmation that when you remove God from public discourse, when you don't line up your thinking with kingdom principles, you inevitably hit an iceberg like the Titanic and you go down."

What is scary is that the conference organizers will now be able to brag and promote that they were “approved” by Harvard, although the university is standing behind the “free-speech” argument that all opinions are to be heard, even if they are dangerous and destructive to a large number of people.

Even worse, Republican presidential hopefuls such as Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin have courted this group for political favors.
Anyone who still believes that the cultural war is over in America is sadly mistaken. The battle is on.
