SAN DIEGO, CA -- In the race for San Diego City Council District 3, Stephen Whitburn reports the strongest total cash contributions for the first reporting period from January 1 - June 30, 2019.
The fundraising report filed with the San Diego City Clerk’s office shows Whitburn’s total exceeding $60,000.
Stephen leads all three opponents, with the nearest challenger over $15,000 behind. Highlighting his commitment to running a grassroots, progressive, people-powered campaign, Stephen’s message to reduce homelessness, make housing more affordable, create jobs, and complete neighborhood improvements continues to resonate among donors and activists.
Over the last two months, momentum continues to build in Stephen’s favor with a strong community-led coalition of endorsements from over 150 neighborhood leaders, local elected officials, political advocacy groups, and labor.
They are standing strong with Stephen as the candidate who can be trusted to listen and lead at City Hall.
Stephen Whitburn has lived in the neighborhoods of Council District 3 for nearly two decades. Stephen’s volunteer work has included serving on advisory panels for the City and County of San Diego, the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation Board of Directors, the Greater San Diego Business Association Advocacy Committee, as President of the San Diego Democratic Club (now San Diego Democrats for Equality), as Vice President of the American Civil Liberties Union of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and as Vice-Chair of the North Park Planning Committee.
Professionally, Stephen is currently the Southern California director of a national cancer research nonprofit. Stephen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and earned a Leadership Certificate from the Center for Executive Development at UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management. Stephen is also proficient in Spanish.
