Local travel seminar: Fabulous and friendly Fiji
Sylvie Eidson with Fijian natives
SAN DIEGO — Wanna get away? Possibly to a location that feels like it’s another galaxy away without the space ship?
Local travel agent Sylvie Eidson will show how you can take a magical vacation far far away, be yourself and even bring along fellow gays and lesbians.
Eidson has been a travel agent for 25 years, and although she has always catered to her friends in the community, it was only recently she realized just how many fabulous and gay-friendly places there on the map that don’t promote themselves to the LGBT community. She said her new focus is to expose them, and Fiji is one of those destinations.
She travelled to Fiji for the third time last November and with each visit, has been thrilled to find how open and gay-friendly it continues to be. Now she wants to share that.
With a little help from Outdoor Travel Adventures and Fiji Tourism, Eidson will lead a seminar on Fiji and its surrounding islands, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bamboo Lounge in Hillcrest. She’d like to do a group trip this year if the response is good enough.
You can RSVP on Facebook where she has been getting the word out, but there are only a few spots left. If the RSVPs are closed, send her a message, because if she gets a tremendous response, she will do another seminar soon.
There is a $15 cover charge at the door, but that includes appetizers, two drinks and a chance to win airline tickets or other door prizes.
