Sophie B. Hawkins
Hawkins shot to the top of the charts in 1992 with Damn! I Wish I Was Your Lover and is currently poised to release her sixth studio album, Dreamstreet and Chance.
She was one of the first female recording artists to be honest about her sexuality and did so at a time when it could have severely affected her career. She soon followed the success of Damn! with As I Lay Me Down, one of the longest running hits on the adult pop charts.
Hawkins and her longtime manager/partner Gigi Gaston have a son, Dasheill Gaston Hawkins, born to Hawkins in November 2008.
Her new eco-message single, The Land the Sea and the Sky will soon be released on iTunes, with all proceeds going to the Waterkeeper Alliance in response to the Gulf oil spill. There will also be single CDs available for $3 at the Anthology show, with all proceeds of CD sales and part of ticket sales also going to the gulf coast waterkeepers.
