The upcoming Hillcrest Prom 2011 looks like it's going to be quite an extravaganza: tuxes and gowns, elegance and pageantry ... but what prom could be complete without a duly elected King and Queen?
Well, this Sunday around 7 pm at Fiesta Cantina, the public will get a chance to cast their ballots at the Official King and Queen Voting Party for the event! So, be there and make your voices heard.
And as far as the big Prom night itself goes, look for more on that here in a couple weeks ...
Comedy Night at Martinis
But before we get to Sunday, we have another busy Thursday night to get through! There are multiple attractions to choose from tonight, such as Martinis' Laugh Out Proud comedy show. This is the second of their new monthly comedy nights geared toward the GLBT community, and features gay comics Sarah Burford, Sean Wherley, and Jiavani Linayao and 'allied' comedians Albert Linton and Janice Remland- the original winner of Pechanga Comedy Club's "So You Think You're Funny" contest.
The show begins at 8 pm, and is free with a two menu item minimum purchase. Guests are welcome to come early to enjoy a full dinner menu in the stylish lounge setting of Martinis Above Fourth. In fact it's a good idea to come early for dinner, as this will guarantee you a seat - last month's event had a capacity crowd.
Reservations are required for dinner and may be made by phone at (619) 400-4500 or online. All other seating is first come, first served.
Mankind Fashion Show/Wet at Bourbon Street
And if that wasn't enough, Bourbon Street will also play host to another hot Mankind Fashion Show tonight, this one featuring designer underwear from Frank Dandy. And stick around after the show for the Wet contest, with tonight's weekly scandal in a shower stall hosted by Shaun Flak.
Luigi Vera Fashion Show
And there's another fashion show party this week as well. On Friday Luigi Vera is throwing a 1 Year Anniversary Party for his 5th Avenue store, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Not only will there be a Lady Gaga-inspired fashion show of boys modelling Andrew Christian, but there's free drinks and appetizers, and a 25% store discount all night long as well.
Jake's on 6th on tap
If you haven't been by Jake's on 6th lately, you really should stop by and check out their 8 shiny new craft brew taps. Yep, it's not only wine now over there! They also have a selection of 30 craft brews in bottles as well.
Last week's events
My photographers and I were all over the place last week ... and we have pictures to prove it! Tune into SDPIX and check out all the new albums, including photos from Rapture at The Flame; Guys, Games & Grub at the Center; Cinco de Mayo at Bourbon Street, Fiesta Cantina, #1 Fifth Avenue and Tigerheat at Avalon in LA; Mama's Day; Out at the Park; and Babette's Mothers' Day Bingo Lunch at Martinis Above Fourth.
