SAN DIEGO --- Eden, one of Hillcrest’s top nightlife and dining destinations, will premiere its revamped restaurant on Tuesday, June 21, along with the return of Ciro’s Pizzeria.
Under the management and direction of NightLifeSD, led by David Laurent, Eden has been undergoing a structural facelift and overhauling the menu. Eden and popular Chef Scotty Wagner parted company a while ago.
After a media and VIP preview on Monday, Eden will debut the new operation with a public grand opening on Tuesday from 7 pm to closing. A hosted bar will be from 7 to 8 pm. RSVP to (619), 269-3336, x209.
Guests will encounter a new concept, vibe and menu. In addition to aesthetic changes, the restaurant will now be led by Executive Chef Ron Prestage and feature a menu stocked full of “un-fussy food selections.”
“The revamped menu wholeheartedly embraces our desire to provide a dining experience that is reflective of the surrounding community,” Prestage said. “I have no doubt that our guests will go ‘GaGa’ over the new menu and will appreciate our commitment to staying colorful, casual and contemporary.”
The new menu will offer a contemporary take on classic dishes and fresh summer selections.
One dish will be the Ragin’ Cajun, a jambalaya pasta tossed with Cajun spices, blackened chicken, peppers and andouille topped with jumbo prawns. The new menu will feature everything from a meatloaf burger and cheesy tater tots to fresh salads and ahi tacos. The popular brunch, whose menu has doubled in size, will now be offered all day on Sundays.
Laurent described the new vibe of the venue.
“We wanted to do something fun, urban, casual and little off the wall,” Laurent said.
General Manager Jerry Shipman said the service staff will go casual as well.
“T-shirts and jeans have replaced the staff’s all-black attire and the dining room will see the installation of plant walls, new lighting and fresh paint that will really brighten the place up,” Shipman said.
Ultimately, Eden will be removing the dining room’s front wall and replacing it with a large retractable glass garage door, making it a “see and be seen” spot on one of the busiest streets in Hillcrest.
The neighboring ChileCo Bistro is undergoing dramatic changes, being replaced by Ciro’s Pizzeria. The New York style pizza shop’s Hillcrest homecoming represents a new phase of development for the 15,000-square-foot Eden property.
“Hillcrest’s hottest piece is back for seconds,” Laurent said, “and we couldn’t be more excited.”
The popular pizza joint recently expanded operations with the successful opening in Pacific Beach last month, making the new-again Ciro’s Hillcrest the latest locale in the line of pizza purveyors.
