You guys will see less of me this October, as I'll be out of town a total of 10 days this month, beginning this weekend:
Gay Days Anaheim
Yep, it's time once again for me to don my mouse ears (and of course, my red shirt) and head up Interstate 5 to Gay Days Anaheim, the unofficial day to be gay at Disneyland! This is a fun, fun weekend I look forward to every October; if you've never been, you can check out my photos of last year's GDA weekend here and here. I know many other groups of San Diegans are planning to trek up there as well.
The festivities will begin Friday night, Sept. 30, with the Wonderland Party at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. "DJ Ray Rhodes spins and Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk) hosts the VIP Lounge while Momma will make your trip down the rabbit hole more fabulous than ever before. There's something for everyone at this mad bash."
The fun goes from 9:30 pm to 1 am. Tickets are $20 at the door, and the proceeds will benefit The Trevor Project.
Gay Day at Disneyland
Saturday, Oct. 1, is the actual Gay Day at Disneyland. The idea here is to enhance our visibility and demonstrate our numbers by all wearing red shirts, and you can purchase this year's official red T-shirt here. Of course you can always wear your own, but just keep in mind: "We encourage your creativity when selecting a shirt (as long as it's red!). Just please keep in mind that Disneyland is open to the general public and there will be people of all ages present. Thanks!"
On Saturday night will be the "centerpiece event of the Gay Days weekend," the Kingdom Party at the House of Blues Anaheim, also in Downtown Disney. This will be a great party with "DJ Kimberly S. back at the turntables! And Frenchie Davis — hot off the hit show "The Voice" — will blow the roof off the joint with a stellar performance! Once again we'll have some Divas of the Kingdom, sizzling go-go dancers, and some fabulous surprises — plus a performance by Ben Roman."
This party will rage from 9 pm to 1:30 am, and tickets will be $45 at the door.
Gay Day at Disney California Adventure
And that's not all! On Sunday, Oct. 2, things will wind up with another festive park outing, Gay Day at the adjoining Disney California Adventure park. Once again, red shirts are the fashionable fashion of the day.
Plunge pool party
Sunday also is the day for Plunge, the official pool party for Gay Days Anaheim, at the Anabella host hotel from noon until 4 pm: "Cocktails will be flowing, DJ Zach Moos will be spinning, the boys will be sizzling, the barbecue will be flaming — along with some of the guests, and Momma and her bathing beauties will be cavorting in the pool. What better way to relax a bit before hitting DCA for the afternoon?" Individual tickets are $20 in advance ($25 at the door).
If you're planning on hitting all the Gay Days parties this weekend, there's a couple VIP options you should consider. The $90 Silver VIP Pass gets you into all three of the non-park parties (Wonderland, Kingdom and Plunge) plus commemorative items, discounts and other goodies. The $145 VIP Gold Pass gets you all that plus "a private VIP cocktail party Saturday afternoon with complimentary cocktails and featuring ambiance by IRIS from Cirque du Soleil" as well as an opportunity to rub elbows with "Glee's Dot Marie Jones, RuPaul's Drag Race winner Raja and Miss Coco Peru!"
Welcome Party at Spin tickets now on sale
My other big trip this month will be the upcoming Atlantis Mexican Cruise, from Oct. 15 through 22. Which means, sadly, that I'll miss the first-ever Hillcrest Hoedown on the 16th ... but oh well, what can you do? Hopefully someone will take lots of pictures for me!
But on the day we get back, I definitely will be at the Atlantis Welcome Party at Spin that Saturday the 22nd, a special welcome back party for all us cruise-goers. It'll be an after hours until 6 am, with music by DJ Luis Perez and DJ Marcel Hetu. Also, a live performance by Alexis Jordan, performing her hits "Happiness" and "Good Girl."
And listen up ... early bird tickets are on sale now, for only $10. And tomorrow (Friday) is the VERY LAST DAY this deal is available! So, be smart and thrifty, and get over to House Boi and get your tickets soon. On Saturday, they go up to $20 (then, $30 at the door).

Full details here. I just want to take this opportunity to thank Chaz Weathers, Dale Dubach and John Osgood for all the incredible service they've done for the community via Martinis over the years. And thanks for all the wonderful memories!
And congratulations to the new owners, Jim Simpson and Doru Tifui, on their amazing new purchase! Best of luck to you both as you embark on your new venture, and I look forward to many more good times at Martinis from here on out.
