Jim Winsor's Out & About: White Party Palm Springs is this weekend!

It's billed as "the largest gay dance music festival in North America," and it's happening this weekend in Palm Springs. Yes, folks, it's time once again for the White Party! And this year, the weather is shaping up to be perfect.

San Diego represents

I did a "roll call" the other day to see how many San Diego friends would be making the pilgrimage up the I-15 to Palm Springs this weekend, and it seems that the turnout from America's Finest City will be terrific. Jerry Cabana, Rey Sims, Brian Patrick, Steve Kleine, Byron Ross, Cali Griebel, Josh Rice, Ricky Cervantes, Zach Albrect, Adam Moore, Derick Kelso, Jonathan Jensen, Sam Hernandez, Brandon Potter, Eric Fager, Go Go Christian Taylor and Rokko Rocco are all going; and at least three people I know, Michael Murray, Benny Cartwright, and a bedazzled Dane Hayden, will be experiencing the weekend for the first time.

And some people will be there as part of large groups: Ron Engart will be there with five friends, while Bradly Houseworth is going with "5 respectable boys that are not already on your list" (huh, must be some guys I have not met yet). But this biggest group I've run across thus far is the Guys Like Us contingent; Chris Benavides and David Miller are shepherding a total of 25 to 30 GLU members up there, with 16 of them staying at a private resort they entirely rented out for the weekend. Now that's gonna be a party I want an invite to!

Speaking for myself, I'll be there with Walter Orlando and two friends from Seattle I know from last October's Atlantis Mexican Cruise, Steven Sayo and Jacob Rodvelt-Gamlieli. Now, I want to stress this will be a "working" weekend for me (don't laugh), as SDPIX and SDGLN are media sponsors. So, look for plenty of photos when I get back, as well as constant live updates on my Facebook page on all the San Diego-related shenanigans as they develop. See you all there!

Last week's events

Last week was a good one here in San Diego. Check out SDPIX for all the action, including new albums from Shawn Pelofsky's The Bathhouse Show at Bourbon Street, The Industry Party at Babycakes, the LGBT Mayor Candidate's Forum at the Center, the Fox & Jane hair salon opening, Madonnarama at Urban Mo's, Boys Night at Gossip Grill, and April Fools Day at Baja Betty's. Happy viewing!
