Jim Winsor’s Out & About: Holiday parties begin

We have a big holiday weekend at Rich’s coming up.

First up on Friday is the Dirty Pop! Let Have a Kiki Video Premiere party at Rich’s, sponsored by the provocative yet popular local t-shirt company IZZMS.

IZZMS has just finished a video remake of "Let's Have A Kiki" by Scissor Sisters, in homage to their recent breakup. Featuring local models and personalities such as Kitty Ferrari, Alexandar Bryant, Nathan Callahan, Paul Jesus, Xwanda, Shauntavia Dumas, Jeanne Bautier, Dusan Stevanovic and more, this video will be unveiled to the public tonight. So, here’s a great opportunity to view this new video, enjoy some great music by DJ Marcel, and get blacked out with the rest of the IZZMS crew.

WTF is happening at Rich’s on Saturday

Actually, it will be the WTF XXX-mas party! It seems that this year Rich’s is merging two of its biggest parties – the insane and over-the-top WTF party (click here for a video of the last one), along with their annual XXX-mas Christmas party (which in the past has featured boys dressed as naughty elves, DJ Nikno dressed as a giant Christmas tree, etc.). So, this looks like a night not to be missed.

DJ Taj and DJ John Joseph will be teaming up in the main room, with DJ Vaughn Avakain in the front. In addition, DJ Marcel will be there, in “Santa’s upstairs disco lounge,” which is said to be a “hidden” room upstairs people are right now only talking about in vague hints and whispers. Hmmm …

M.A.N. Winter Refresh party at Bourbon Street

Also coming up this Friday is another edition of the M.A.N. party at Bourbon Street. This month will feature music by DJ Lil Chris, and a winter fashion show by House Boi hosted by Shaun Flak. Plus there will be “Fire and Ice” specials all night long, in addition to the usual fabulous M.A.N. night drink specials.

And be sure to check out Shaun’s new web site, which has been recently updated with new DJ bios, a live blog, dancer profiles and more.

'Tis the season for bar toy drives

Last week I had the privilege of witnessing local philanthropist Luis Fitch during his toy drive last Friday in Balboa Park. This effort was supplemented by many others bringing toys for him the next night to Jim Honeycutt’s Annual Gingerbread Decorating Party.

If you missed this toy giving opportunity last week, not to worry! There are more big toy drives coming up on the calendar, many happening this weekend:

Saturday, Dec. 8

5 pm: Toys for Kids Drive at Redwing Bar and Grill

Sunday, Dec. 9

6 pm: Noche Romantica para TJ Tots at the Brass Rail

6 pm: 4th Annual We Care Holiday Mixer at 1202

Last week’s events

Check out SDPIX for all the new albums from last week, including photos from the Brass Rail, #1 Fifth Avenue, the Range, and 1202. Happy viewing!
