SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC) will perform its spring concert "Still We Rise" this Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5 at University Christian Church in Hillcrest. Tickets are still available.
The Black Storytellers of San Diego will be SDWC's special guests at this concert event that will offer a glimpse at women’s legacy through story and song. The Black Storytellers of San Diego is a dynamic group of women who promote storytelling and oral tradition through education and entertainment.
"Still We Rise" will borrow from the black community's rich tradition of musical expression and social awareness to provide the musical base of the program, weaving together music and spoken word to create a special, magical event. The concert will illustrate and illuminate how women have faced formidable barriers to equality and continue their climb to be accepted equally.
In the video below, SDWC members share why the group is so important to them, and give a preview of the concert.
Tickets are general admission and can be purchased in advance for $15.
