SAN DIEGO --The San Diego Women's Chorus will present its 26th annual winter concert, "Light Up the World," on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 pm and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5 pm.
Tickets are now available for the concert, which celebrates the wonderful things about the winter holiday season: family, togetherness, love, warmth, hope and all the winter goodwill that lights up the world during this time of year.
The 80-plus member San Diego Women's Chorus will perform uplifting songs about Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali and winter solstice and other joyous songs from around the globe, including Nigeria, Puerto Rico and Iraq.
Delight in familiar holiday tunes like the Hanukah classic "S'vivon," a jazz version of "Carol of the Bells," Amy Grant's "Grown Up Christmas List" and the reflective song "Believe" from the movie The Polar Express. Experience the haunting call for peace in "Iraqi Peace Song," be greeted to the sounds of a Nigerian welcoming chant, and celebrate the season with the Puerto Rican carol "Venid, Pastores a Belen."
Advanced sale tickets for "Light Up the World" are $15 for general admission and $12 for seniors, military and children (ages 3-17). Children younger than 3 will be admitted for free, but may be required to sit on an adult's lap. Ticket prices at the door will be $20 and $15, as available.
Both concerts will be held at the University Christian Church, 3900 Cleveland Ave. in Hillcrest.
