607 Productions will be wrapping up its highly successful Repent ladies night at Rich’s tonight, at a special final event:
“This is it! It's time to say goodbye! We've had an amazing run and we want to go out with a bang! Get ready for 6 amazing Dj's, 5 mind blowing performances, 4 go-go dancers, 3 shot specials, 2 dance floors and 1 memory to last a lifetime.”
The party kicks off at 9:30 pm, and will feature an aerial show, a fire show, a champagne toast at midnight, music by DJs Saratonin, Lezlee and Kiki in the front room, and Amara, dirty KURTY and Von Kiss in the main room. Cover is only $5.
As far as future Thursday nights at Rich’s go, I’ve heard it officially from manager Ryan Bedrosian that it will remain a ladies night, under a soon-to-be-announced new promotion.
Sonique Love of "RuPaul's Drag Race" Season 2 at Bourbon Street tonight for WET
Sonique Kylie Love of "RuPaul's Drag Race" Season 2 fame will be the guest host of SDPIX's WET contest at Bourbon Street on Thursday night, Nov. 7. She will be heading to Bourbon Street following an early evening performance at SDSU's Big Gay BBQ.
"Known by most as Sonique, she participated on the show in 2009 as a drag performer but began to transition from male to female shortly after taping. She came out as a transgender individual on the Season 2 reunion episode, but has carried on her drag legacy by continuing to perform in nightclubs wearing drag clothing in her new female body."
Each Thursday, the crowds flock to Bourbon Street for the WET contest, which includes underwear clad men (and sometimes women) who compete for more than $500 in cash and prizes. Winners are chosen by audience response. The fun starts at 10 pm.
Gaymr at Numbers
Another big event tonight is the November installment of Gaymr at Numbers, the monthly night hosted by Ned Cato Jr. and Nathan Callahan for hot geeky gays of the gaming persuasion. Look for single player and tournament video games, board gaming, a team twister game, combined with hot geek gogos, drink specials and a monthly surprise.
I’m sailing away …
This Sunday I’ll be leaving San Diego for a week, and heading up to Long Beach to depart on this year’s Atlantis Mexican Cruise. So, there will be no column next week, but you can look forward to a big cruise recap column, complete with no-doubt scandalous photos of Dustin Washburn, Jim Honeycutt, David Miller II and others, when I get back the week after.
If you are on this cruise and also departing Sunday morning from San Diego, SDPIX is once again sponsoring a shuttle bus to Long Beach, which will also haul travelers back from Long Beach to San Diego on the following Sunday when the cruise returns. If you are interested in this no-hassle way of getting to and from the cruise ship, feel free to sign up online here and join us.
Overdrive at Spin (Saturday, Nov. 16)
Since I will be gone next week, I do want to mention now another big event that will be launching the following Saturday, Nov. 16. Overdrive at Spin is a new quarterly event by DJ Tristan Jaxx and Shaun Flak:
“DJ Tristan Jaxx Productions, the producers of SF's hottest monthly circuit party, Chaos, and 3x Nicky Award Winner for Outstanding Bar Event, Flak Productions, are excited to bring a hot new quarterly circuit event to San Diego. OVERDRIVE will get your engines revved up with:
Circuit festival-class international DJ talent
Sexy, buffed-out go-go dancers
70,000 watts of real Thunderous Avalon sound
Custom kinetic lighting
Lasers unlike San Diego has ever seen before!
Join us as we unleash this intense new circuit experience on November 16th at Spin Nightclub. Entrance is only $5 before 11pm and $20 after. Limited half-price presale tix on sale now. Are you ready to shift your party experience into OVERDRIVE?!!!”
This opening night will also feature one of my favorites, DJ Joe Gauthreaux. So naturally, I’m a bit sad I’ll be on the cruise and miss this, but for those of you still here in San Diego this should be quite an event.
