SAN DIEGO -- A donation of $1,000 to the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) “Be a Chorus Hero” program promises to make the season bright for the clients and volunteers of three non-profit organizations serving San Diego’s LGBT youth.
Recipients of the gift include The Center’s Youth Services; the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN); and the Lambda Archives Student Volunteer Program. Each group will receive a block of donated tickets to SDGMC’s holiday show "The Nutcracker (Men in Tights!)" on Dec. 14 and 15 at Balboa Theatre.
"We are thrilled that donors are sponsoring LGBT youth to come enjoy our show," artistic director Gary Holt said. "Our holiday production is always wonderful and uplifting, but also full of fun and mischief. No matter what your age, I guarantee you’ll leave with a smile on your face and in the holiday spirit."
The “Be a Chorus Hero” program was established as an SDGMC outreach program for social service and non-profit groups. Past recipients have included Being Alive, Mama’s Kitchen and Stepping Stone.
