Jim Winsor’s Out & About: White Party Palm Springs photo contest kicks off

White Party Palm Springs, hailed as the largest gay dance festival in the world, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary April 25-28. As a result, I’ve been hearing a lot of big things are in store for us this year.

For those you who have not yet purchased tickets, here is some good news: Promoter Jeffrey Sanker is holding a photo contest on Facebook this week, with the top prize being 2 VIP Weekend Passes, a room for two, meals at Trio & Lulu, a VIP gift bag and more.

This will run like most other Facebook contests, with the winner determined by the highest number of overall likes, comments and shares the photo earns. To enter just send a photo of you at any previous White Party to jeffreysanker@sketchbookla.com, and it will be posted in their contest album for you and your friends to vote on.

I would be happy to help you here if need be. SDPIX has an extensive collection of your previous years’ White Party photos, literally thousands of them, going back to 2004. So, if there is a favorite White Party photo of you in our archives that you would like to use, just email me at jim@sdpix.com with the exact file name, and I will send you a copy of the original photo for use in this contest. Like I said, I am happy to help … best of luck!

Mink at the Merrow

This Saturday Shaun Flak and Grace Towers bring you the third installment of the newest queer party in San Diego, Mink at the Merrow. A place where art meets music meets the most fabulous you, this month Grace will be joined by Justin Parker (Disco Dollie) in bringing you a live art performance experience, while DJ Shane Stiel sets the musical tone for the evening.

No-Pants Party at Rich’s

Also this Saturday, Rich’s will be debuting an original event, the first-ever No-Pants Party. And it’s just as the name describes: Patrons are encouraged to go pant-less throughout the night, with a free pants-check and music by DJ Taj and DJ John Joseph.

So You Think You Can Drag at Lip
