Jim Winsor’s Out & About: WTF is happening at Rich’s this Saturday

You got to hand it to Rich’s. No matter how a good a previous WTF party is, they always manage to find a way to top it the next time around.

This Saturday’s WTF at Rich’s with special guest host Miss New Weave, TS Madison should be no exception. With music by DJ Taj and DJ Nikno, and after hours until 4 am, this will be yet another night to remember.

As usual, outlandish-wear is highly encouraged. I’ve talked to a few people who are excitingly preparing for this; Josh Ramirez, in particular, has told me his is planning something special on a scale beyond anything he’s come up with before. Given some of his earlier WTF concepts, this should be interesting indeed!

And on a personal note: At midnight I will be turning 50. Yes, on March 30, 1964 I came into this world … a half-century of Jim. How time flies! So if you’d like to join in the birthday festivities, and kick off the beginning of my next 50 years, just be there at Rich’s this Saturday at midnight. See you all then!

Growler Painting Party at Hillcrest Brewing Company

This Thursday, Hillcrest Brewing Company will be having another Growler Painting Party, starting at 7 pm. Just like last time, feel free to bring your own growler, or buy one on site, and paint it there! All while sipping local craft beer the entire time to get your creative juices flowing. Conveniently, all HBC beers will be $2 off that night.

The best painted growler will win a $25 Mos Universe gift card, good at Urban Mo’s, Gossip Grill, Baja Betty’s or Hillcrest Brewing Company. And win or lose, you can use your colorful new growler to take home a nice gallon of cold beer. Mmmm …

Mr. Bear San Diego 2014 Contest at the Hole

This Saturday the Hole will be hosting the Mr. Bear San Diego 2014 Contest, beginning at 8 pm. The current 2013 title holder Aaron Bovoroy will step down and pass the tiara to a new top bear, while Empress Roxy Bleau will be the emcee for the evening. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will also be on hand to perform a blessing.

The event will also be a fundraiser for Bears San Diego Charities. Last year the charity raised over $16,000, which will be presented to Being Alive and Special Delivery San Diego at the ceremony.
