FilmOut 2015 Awards have been announced

The results are in from the FilmOut’s 2015 San Diego Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

“Drown” and “I am Michael” took away the most awards.

“Drown” taking six nods, including Best Narrative Feature and Matt Levett for Best actor.

“I Am Michael” took away 8 awards including Best Narrative Feature and Best Actress to Emma Roberts.

The Audience was clearly impressed with “I Am Michael” as they awarded the film Best First Narrative Feature and Best Actor for James Franco’s performance of Michael Glatze, the controversial managing editor of XY magazine. Best Screenplay went to Justin Kelley for the film.

Documentaries were a big part of FilmOut this year. “Tab Hunter: Confidential” garnered not only the Best Documentary Festival award, but the audience award as well. Hunter also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s showcase.

Not many comedies were in the line-up of films this year, but Andrea Grano and Tara Karsian tied for Best Actress in a Feature Film for their roles in “BFFs.”

Missing from the list of winners was Matt Riddlehoover’s male pregnancy comedy “Paternity Leave” and porn documentary “Seed Money: The Chuck Holmes Story.”
