The Olympian also offers a dig at Ted Cruz for his support of “bathroom bills.”
Caitlyn Jenner took Donald Trump up on his vow to allow transgender people to use the restroom that best corresponds with their gender identity.
On Thursday, the Olympian posted a video on her official Facebook page that shows her stopping by the Trump International Hotel in New York to use the ladies’ room.
“Oh my God, a trans woman in New York! I gotta take a pee,” Jenner says in the video as she strolls down Central Park West. “Oh my God, a Trump International hotel! I love this! Okay, last week Donald Trump said I can take a pee anywhere in a Trump facility, so I’m gonna go take a pee in the ladies’ room.”
After exiting the facilities, Jenner proclaims, “Thank you, Donald, really appreciate it.” She then zings Ted Cruz, who has suggested that allowing transgender people to use the appropriate restroom would encourage male “predators” to enter the ladies’ room.
“By the way, Ted,” she quips, “nobody got molested.”
The 66-year-old alluded to having visited the restroom at the Trump property earlier this week during a speech at the Time 100 gala in New York.
“I obeyed all the rules, I promise you, I didn’t throw any feminine products down the toilet,” she joked, according to People. “And it actually worked out quite well. It was very good.”
Jenner’s video, which currently has almost 500,000 views, couldn’t be more timely. On April 21, Cruz chimed in on the controversy surrounding the so-called “bathroom bills” by releasing a campaign ad titled “Appropriate.”
The commercial, which can be viewed below, asks supporters, “Should a grown man pretending to be a woman be allowed to use the women’s restroom?”
Huffington Post Queer Voices Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
