There’s nothing new about the common charge that the U.S. criminal justice system is stacked against the poor, which may at least partially account for the lack of buzz generated by filmmaker Edward Zwick’s “Trial by Fire” at Telluride.

Millennials probably have the biggest selection of LGBT themed stories in modern cinema. But go back about four decades and if there was a gay person in a movie they were either a tragic pawn or a serial killer. 

Case in point was the groundbreaking movie "Cruising" starring Al Pacino who plays an undercover detective infiltrating the New York kink scene to catch a killer.

I’d call “Daniel’s Husband” a Greek tragedy if it weren’t so clever, charming and funny on the way to its sadness. Playwright Michael McKeever deftly melds humor and tragedy, and the superb cast portrays the five characters so engagingly that we’re caught caring entirely too much when the problem arises.

Iconic celebrity, gay ally and animal welfare activist Doris Day has died reports her non-profit foundation. She was 97-years-old. 

The Doris Day Foundation confirmed the news early Monday morning. They said she died at her Carmel Valley home.
