Theater Review: “August Wilson’s Jitney”

“August Wilson’s Jitney” plays through February 23, 2020 on The Old Globe’s Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park.

“Jitney” is part of playwright August Wilson’s 10-part “Pittsburgh Cycle” of plays chronicling African American life throughout the 20th century. The eighth in the series, it was the first written but the last to be performed on Broadway, in 2017.

Theater Review: “Babette’s Feast”

“Babette’s Feast” runs through February 16, 2020 at Lamb’s Players Theatre, 1142 Orange Avenue, Coronado.

Isak Dinesen’s 1958 short story “Babette’s Feast,” adapted for the stage by Rose Courtney, plays there through Feb. 16.

The film adaptation won the Best Foreign Film Oscar in 1987. The play, however, was adapted from the short story, not the film.

Theater Review: “Murder for Two”

“Murder for Two” plays through March 1, 2020 at New Village Arts, 2787 State Street, Carlsbad.

How about a goofball murder-mystery musical called “Murder For Two,” featuring two piano-playing, singing actors playing a total of 13 (oops, unlucky number) characters.
