(Editor’s note: “Tantrums and Tiaras: Battle of the Bar Queens 2017” returns on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Observatory North Park. The show is an over-the-top drag competition where representatives from some of the community’s bars with little or no drag experience compete for the crown. The event benefits the programs of The San Diego LGBT Community Center. Leading up to the event, we will profile the six contestants, but you’ll have to buy tickets and go the show to find out their drag name and see them in full make-up! Check out the other contestants we’ve profiled for this year HERE. More information and tickets can be purchased HERE.)
Contestant Name: Lukas Volk
Bar Representing: Urban Mo’s Bar & Grill
First time in drag?
Well … There might be some photos circulating online somewhere, but essentially, yes.
Tell us a bit more about yourself.
I was born and raised in Florida. It’s a sunny place for shady people. San Diego’s climate brough me across the country and luckily landed me at Mo’s Universe for a job.
What are you most excited about?
I’m most excited to see the entire show come together. These boys have worked so hard this year and we’re ready to give you a show!
What makes you most nervous about competing?
Oh f***, choreography. Luckily, I’m working with a fabulous instructor and group of friends.
Why are YOU going to win Tantrums & Tiaras?
I’m going to win because ever since I was a little boy I’ve dreamt … ha! kidding. I’m actually just honored to participate.
May the force be with all of us.
