The singer will appear in San Diego for two shows this weekend.
If anything can be said about Ricky Rebel it’s that he doesn’t discriminate when it comes to 80’s pop royalty and that can be easily heard in his new release “If You Were My Baby.”
Equal parts Prince, Michael Jackson, and David Bowie, this track invokes those late artists while adding that familiar dance-synth vibe that is purely Rebel.
You will be able to hear this new single at two locations in San Diego this weekend.
“I am excited to get back to San Diego,” said the singer in an interview. “I’m gonna wave the Rebel flag high this weekend because ’If You Were My Baby’ is one of those feel-good tracks that the world desperately needs right now.”
Originally from Upland California, the glam rocker used to spend his free time memorizing lyrics from some of his favorite artists of the 80’s.
San Diego seems to be a perennial favorite for Rebel who visits during the Pride season.
“Pride means that you love yourself enough to be yourself,” said back in 2015. “Express yourself and boldly be who you are to the world.”
That philosophy has done Rebel well. His smart and avant-garde fashion sense and colorful personal style is adored by his huge fan base.
He was recently seen at Cannes sporting that Rebel-style much to the delight of the paparazzi.
“If You Were My Baby’ has its own important message,” says Rebel. “It is that we are all worthy of love. If you like someone, make a case as to why you are the best for them. You might be surprised with the results.”
