One of San Diego's most anticipated drag competitions of the year is fast approaching - with 2018 being an All Stars Edition! Check out our profiles of the 5 contestants as the show approaches!
(Editor's note: "Tantrums and Tiaras: Battle of the Bar Queens All-Stars 2018" will take place on Sunday, Feb. 18 at Observatory North Park. The show is an over-the-top drag competition featuring representatives from some of the community’s bars. This year's pageant will be an All-Stars edition with 5 previous contestants, who once had little or no drag experience, will come back to compete for the crown. The event benefits the programs of The San Diego LGBT Community Center. Leading up to the event, we will profile the five contestants, but you'll have to buy tickets and go the show to find out their drag name and see them in full make-up! More information and tickets can be purchased HERE.)
Contestant Name: Grant Foreman
Bar Representing: Urban Mo's
Check out Grant's original Tantrums & Tiaras interview from when he competed in 2015, representing Rich's.
What did it feel like being on the T&T stage last time?
Last time I was onstage I couldn’t believe how nervous I actually was. Being in front of people has never been a problem for me, but this type of rehearsed show has so much prep going into it that it makes the pressure legitimate!
Have you been in drag since being on the T&T stage?
I love being able to have a big event to be dressed in drag for. Our group of friends always go to The Red Dress Party and goes big and in full drag. But I’m not able to make my outfits or do my makeup so unless I have the talents of a friend like Paris I can’t do it.
What have you learned about drag since being part of T&T?
I’ve learned that once the lashes go one you really feel like the face is complete. And that character takes on characteristics and mannerisms that are not your own it’s fun to experience.
Why are YOU going to win Tantrums & Tiaras ALL STARS?
All Stars is an event where we get to have fun while raising money and awareness for The Center. I've already won by getting to appear on stage twice and help a place that helped me and my family so much as gay teen. And world peace. Ha!
Any closing thoughts?
Remember we aren’t regular drag queens but only appear in drag once a great while. Any good, or flops for that matter, you see is all the better because we are just as surprised to see it all come to life as you are.
