Both Cooper and Bradley sing live on the soundtrack
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are giving us some real chemistry in the new trailer for “A Star is Born.”
The film is directed by Cooper and it marks the first time Mother Monster takes on a lead role in a major motion picture. The film is based on the 1954 musical of the same name starring Judy Garland. A 1976 remake featuring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson was a moderate success. In 1937 the original "A Star is Born" focused on acting, not the music industry.
In this updated version Cooper plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer… until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
The cast of “A Star is Born” also includes Andrew Dice Clay, with Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott.
Gaga and Cooper collaborated on the movie's soundtrack with help from artists Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson. All the music is original and was recorded live.
"A Star is Born" is scheduled to hit theaters in October 2018.
