The talented remaining cast pulls through in self-aware teaser.
The "Roseanne" reboot was one of the more successful shows of 2018, even getting renewed for the 2018-2019 slate. But due to the titular star's penchant for letting her mouth get her into trouble, it was a short-lived victory after she made a racist tweet. The show was then pulled from the schedule.
But now it's back and absent are both Roseanne Barr's name in the title and on the screen. Rebranded as "The Conners," this spin-off of the reboot looks like they may have never needed her in the first place.
The full power of the Hollywood exec was put to use and Barr's character was killed off, leaving the family to pick up the pieces.
Front and center are the recently Oscar-nominated Laurie Metcalf and series original John Goodman as her newly widowed brother-in-law. Sara Gilbert also returns as the ever-sardonic Darlene.
As witnessed by the promo below, it appears this family is getting by just fine without their matriarch in both the show and in real life.
"The Conners" premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 8/7c on ABC.
