Actor Ryan Sampson, star of The Frankenstein Chronicles and, more recently the britcom Plebs, wasn’t about to be bullied by an online troll who wanted to snare him into an odious direct message conversation.
The 33-year-old star decided to out his hater instead, by officially coming out on social media, and he did it with a picture of his boyfriend.
“Hi y’all,” Sampson wrote in the caption. “So. I was on Instagram and I looked at my direct messages and it turned out someone was trying to rope me in to some (pretty creaky) homophobic banter. Huh! So, for clarity, here’s a pic of me and the boyf. Just to, y’know… straighten that one out. As it were.”
Some on social media seemed shocked at the news, but others have been over the moon.
“Loved you as an actor / comedian, love you more as a person after this. Handsome couple.” said one responder.
Another joked about his character’s Ceaser haircut on the comedy Plebs which takes place in ancient Rome.
“What a handsome pair,” the wrote. “Does he prefer you with the Grumio haircut or your usual classic bed head hair?”
