The actor was in Australia on a family vacation.
Thor's hammer may have the power to bring enemies to their knees, but over the weekend the actor who plays him, Chris Hemsworth, left the internet defenseless against his backside.
The actor was on vacation in Australia with his family when he got up close and personal with a quokka, a tiny marsupial who prefers his admirers to be face-to-face. According to Out, Hemsworth needed to get his head closer to the ground than his rear-end, which ended up giving him an arched back in the prone position.
His wife Elsa Pataky captured the video of the moment which in turn shook the internet.
Reddit users were particularly enthralled with his tilted tail-end position.
"Damn right. That position... I can't concentrate on the small mammal he's interacting with," wrote one.
Another said, "Best part is, probably Hemsworth would laugh at these jokes. He seems like an awesome dude. Alas, he's helplessly straight."
Another evoked a narrator from a nature program: "[In the voice of David Attenborough] 'Here, Hemsworth mimics the mating ritual of the quokka, adopting a receptive pose and offering the male a tasty treat.'"
Hemsworth himself wrote about his interaction with the furry creature on Instagram, "3 weeks crawling around the dirt, studying the Quokkas movements, mimicking their language and eventually gained their trust and was accepted as one of them, I now go by the name Quokkachris."
