Life may have imitated art as American DJ, songwriter, and producer Diplo made a revelation about his sexuality just as he thought his private plane was going to crash.

The 40-year-old musician was high above the earth earlier this week when he used Instagram to give his followers an update about a scary mid-air situation:

"Dear Colombus and Minneapolis, my jet window just cracked open and the pilots are wearing masks so not sure ill make my shows tonight but they left the wifi on so I'm just going to sit in the back and smoke toad venom and Vlog."

But that wasn't all. Just like in the film "Almost Famous" when one of the movie's band members is facing his mortality through fuselage rattling turbulence, Diplo revealed, "Also i never told you this but I might by gay... "

The joke in that film is that the plane lands safely, as did Diplo's, “We landed and no one died I still might be gay, but I’m definitely not going to tye die any more jets," he wrote.

Whether the post was just an homage to the film, or Diplo really did (partially) come out is still up for speculation. But the singer has approached the topic before with just as much ambiguity.

According to Gayety, in 2016, the DJ was asked about his sexual preference and he admitted to being "half gay," and in another remark earlier this year he's quoted as saying, "Masculinity is a prison.”

Diplo recently made a cameo playing himself in the film "Detective Pikachu."
