This Dallas transplant is creating quite a buzz.
There's a new gay bar coming to Hillcrest and it's getting ready to open its doors in just over a week.
Just in case you missed all the hub-bub, the "World Famous Tin Room" is taking up residence in Hillcrest. This is an extension of their bar of the same name that remains open in Dallas.
This Southern California venture is moving into 3683 Fifth Avenue, formerly known as The Brew Project and then more recently Project Brew.
The Tin Room has become a famous gay nightspot in Texas with its metal walls and large cast of underwear-only clad go go boys, a theme the owners say they will keep in San Diego at night.
Throughout the last month, Bar Manager Joshua Simmons has been updating his social media page with videos apprising the public of progress being made inside the location.
Owner Lonzie Hershner told us last month the lateral move to America's Finest City is something he hopes is the beginning of a great relationship with Hillcrest and beyond.
"We are all very excited to become apart of such a beautiful community," he said. "I want to really become a positive part of it. I am president of the Dallas Tavern Guild and president of Dallas Pride as well here in Dallas. First straight man to hold both positions. So I hope to also be a part of San Diego Pride as well."
Although not much detail has been given on how the inside of the bar will look, local artist Erik Benson was seen giving his personal touch to the walls on Monday Tin Room style; dressed only in barely-there briefs.
The outside fence and patio have been given a coat of rainbow paint visible from the street.
The World Famous Tin Room San Diego Grand Opening is set for Friday, December 6, 2019
The World Famous Tin Room San Diego is located at 3683 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, 92103.
