Who Is Taika Waititi? All About Rita Ora’s Husband

Rita Ora has finally revealed that she had tied the knot with her long-term partner Taika Waititi, as she celebrated the release of her new single titled – You Only Love Me on Friday. 

When asked if the two were husband and wife in an interview on Heart Radio Breakfast, the 32-year-old singer answered affirmatively. 

Some sources have confirmed that Rita and Taika exchanged their vows in August last year and that they had been a couple since March 2021.

The two had sparked romance rumors before as they made multiple red-carpet appearances at movie premiers and awards show and even shared social media posts featuring the other.

Taika Waititi is a 47-year-old filmmaker, actor, and comedian from New Zealand who had recently featured in movies including Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), Jojo Rabbit (2019), Thor: Ragnarok, etc. 

He is the recipient of the prestigious New Zealand Order of Merit and has bagged several accolades in the film industry including an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and a Grammy for many of his great works.

He made his name in Time Magazines’ 100 most influential people annual list in 2022. 

Taika David Cohen was born on August 1975 in the North Island Bay of Plenty region in New Zealand, his parents split up when he was 5.

Taika was mostly raised by his mother Robin Cohen, whose surname he used for his work in film and writing at the time he began his career. Taika pursued a variety of artistic interests after college, where he was quite active in art groups. 

Taika attended the Victoria University of Wellington, where he joined four others in the comedy ensemble So You’re a Man, which toured New Zealand and Australia. He was half of the comedy duo The Humourbeasts along with Jemaine Clement which received the Billy T Award in 1999, which is New Zealand’s highest comedy accolade. 

Taika Waititi began making comical short films for New Zealand’s film contests and in 2005 his short film “Two Cars, One Night” earned him an Academy Award nomination. 

His 2013 mockumentary “What We Do In The Shadows” was a great success and a television adaptation of the film was commissioned in 2018. The second season of this television season earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the field of ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’. 

His first major studio film was Marvel Studios’s Thor: Ragnarok where he portrayed the alien Korg. He was later consulted for writing Thor’s storylines for Avengers: Infinity War, maintaining the character’s consistency in the MCU. 

Taika wrote and directed Jojo Rabbit in 2019, which received several Academy Award nominations and went on to win the category for Best Adapter Screenplay.

Rita Ora’s Latest Single – You Only Love Me:

Rita Ora portrays a sad bride in the music video of her latest single You Only Love Me on YouTube. In the intro, we find several of Rita’s friends congratulating her on her marriage which includes celebrities Lindsay Lohan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Kristen Stewart, Chelsea Handler, and Sharon Stone. 

Throughout the video, Rita is surrounded by colorful bridesmaids who are trying to steal the show and the video ends with her walking towards a giant castle for her big wedding, which is suddenly caught on fire and the bride is left in anguish. 

Rita explains that she wanted to capture the vulnerability that she experienced by entering a new phase in her life and was compelled to document it through her music.
