The Marvel Universe confirmed its sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) in October 2015, after it witnessed the massive success of its first film at the box office. Peyton Reed was also excited to work with its sequel as he felt that there was more to tell in the story of Ant-Man.

Reed anticipated exploring the untouched elements in the movie, such as the past of Hank Pym, his Wife, and daughter, as well as Quantum Reality.

After brainstorming sessions, they came up with the idea to present the giant version of Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War (2016). In 2017, ‌filming began after the initial script was completed, and later the visual development.

The Story So Far

Is about Dr. Hank Pym, a scientist who quit working in ‌S.H.I.E.L.D. after he discovered their failed attempt ‌to replicate their shrinking technology.

Ever since then, he has assured to hide the technology, believing it would be dangerous. Fast forward to the present; Hank Pym was forced to leave his company after his daughter Hope Van Dyne and Darren took over the company.

Meanwhile, Scott Lang was released from prison and was looking for a clean job to afford his daughter. However, he was invited to a heist by his partner Luis which was a plan by Pym and Hope to steal the suit from Darren Cross and train him to become Ant-Man to destroy the Yellowjacket.

In the attempt to destroy Yellowjacket, Scott shrunk the yellowjacket into nothing by shrinking it into a sub-atomic size, which led him to be trapped in the quantum realm. However, he could rewrite the suit when he started to hear Cassie’s voice.

This opens Hank’s mind regarding her long-lost wife and whether she is alive somewhere in the Quantum Realm after turning into subatomic size in an attempt to disable a soviet missile.

In its sequel, Hank and Hope discover a method to open a tunnel to the Quantum Realm in the hope of finding his wife, Janet van Dyne. Meanwhile, Lang was under house arrest after he violated the Sokovia Accords.
