“Joker: Folie a Deux”, the sequel to Joker (2019) is currently in production. As ‌‌the film is in progress, ‌director Todd Philips has revealed some glimpses of who will play the role of Harley Quinn alongside the ‌Pheonix, who will reprise his role as Arthur Fleck also known as Joker in the upcoming movie.

Todd Philips Drops The First Look Of Harley Quinn

Director Todd Philips revealed steaming first images of Harley Quinn. The actress ‌playing the role is none other than the vocal artist Lady Gaga. Todd Philips dropped the bomb on Valentine’s Day evening, which also befits the insane romance we all are aware of the Joker and Harley Quinn.

The same image was also shared by Lady Gaga on her social media accounts.

The sequel is expected to display the origins of their history. It could be exciting if ‌the sequel shows how they first met each other in ‌prison. As we have all seen in Joker (2019), Arthur is taken to the Asylum for his ruckus caused in the city due to insatiable mental health. It is assumed that Lady Gaga, who plays the therapist Dr. Harleen Quinzel, will meet for the first time with Arthur Fleck.

In previous movies, such as Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn’s role was played by Margot Robbie, who inherited the nature of Harley Quinn in the sets.

It is assumed that Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Harley Quinn would be different from Margot Robbie’s as the characters are appearing in two separate universes. This means that Margot Robbie’s role as Harley Quinn might not be scrapped due to the involvement of Lady Gaga. Nevertheless, only time can tell.

However, the participation of Lady Gaga in the sequel to the Joker (2019) was officially confirmed earlier. Although, the message doesn’t reveal what role she is going to play in Joker: Folie A Deux.

In early August 2022, the musician published the title and the release dates of the movie on her social media – confirming her involvement in the film. In the shared video, her silhouette can be seen dancing with Joker to old-timey music. In addition, the upcoming movie is said to be a musical which suits the best abilities of Lady Gaga as a singer.

Meanwhile, Tod Philips dropped these pictures shortly after James Gunn and Peter Safran announced a complete restructuring of the order of the DC universe. The directors can see the potential of comics to compete with its rivals, Marvel. The upcoming universe begins with “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters”. It is reported that Todd Philips Joker exists outside this universe.

Earlier, Warner Bros and other partners responsible for the production of the DC movies canceled the upcoming Batgirl movie to make room for the production of high-profile characters, such as Batman, Flash, Joker, and others. The cancellation of the Bat-Girl eventually questions the status of Upcoming Movies.

Additionally, the Co-CEOs of the DC studios have revealed a 10-year plan to revamp the universe. The project is expected to release two movies and two HBO Max series per year. Currently, the plan estimates up to produce of eight projects in the 10-year duration. Some of the upcoming movies are “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” “The Flash,” “Blue Beetle,” and “the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”

The 10-year plan will also kick off a newer version of Superman in the “Superman: Legacy” which will narrate the story of Clark Kent, “focusing on balancing his Kryptonian heritage with human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, and he is kindness in a world that thinks kindness as old fashioned.”

It is confirmed that the new projects will not disrupt the universes of Pattinson’s Batman as Matt Reaves plans to direct and release its sequel, “The Batman Part II” on October 3, 2025, as well as other projects that feature high-profile superstars in the DC universe.
