If you're not familiar with Acro Yoga there is a "base" and a "flyer."
Finding new ways to be active is as important I think, as becoming active in the first place; it helps keep us interested.
Gyms get boring.
Crossfit's soul crushing daily workouts can become... well, soul crushing.
Running becomes monotonous.
Hiking is an obvious and fun option that I covered last week; but what about when the weather sucks or you just don't want to make the trek?
Last week I decided to reserve two spaces for me and the man at FIT Athletic's, Acro Yoga class and it was amazing!
Instead of enrolling in another membership some place, I looked into what else is offered at the places I already attend.
Not everyone brought a partner and that was fine as they paired singles up and rotated.
If you're not familiar with Acro Yoga there is a "base" and a "flyer"...not unlike other situations you may be more intimately familiar!
The base supports the flyer through various poses while both partners work hard to balance in some wild positions.
As the base your core and entire legs will be sore, and flyers get a huge core/back workout with their stretching.
I wanted my boyfriend and I to do it together to have a new experience to bond over and mission accomplished, we loved it.
During one of my breaks while trying to look like I wasn't as gassed as I felt, I noticed how everyone was interacting over the shared challenges the class presented.
We all were making new connections with like minded people and that's what makes life feel extra full.
After the two hour clinic there was even hosted food and drink to further our new friendships.
So get creative and take advantage of all the perks your memberships or connections have.
If you don't have a gym, or want to switch, shop around before you buy as most offer free weeks.
Don't forget SDGLN has perks all over town, one of them being a discounted membership at Fit!
Have fun and try something new, it might even stick.
