Hope to come up with concrete solutions to budget crisis
(SAN DIEGO) – The Associated Students (AS) of San Diego State University (SDSU) will host a Budget Solution Forum today at 3 p.m. in the Aztec Center’s Casa Real room on campus.
The purpose of the forum is to provide a space for students and other interested parties from across the state to come together and formulate real solutions to the budget crisis that faces our state and its higher education institutions.
Students across the state, including hundreds at SDSU, have rallied together in protest of the budget cuts over the last few months.
“Each protest has proposed a demand in reaction to cuts, and each demand is legitimate and substantial – but none have stated how to achieve it,” said AS President Tyler Boden.
The AS is hopeful this event will help generate ideas as to how to achieve the demands of these protests.
The forum will be based on a democratic one person, one vote system. Solutions proposed to AS will be presented to the group and the forum will include time to discuss and vote on the proposals.
Selected solutions will be presented to state legislators in the form of a resolution from the AS Council.
