TUESDAY: Hillcrest Town Council to discuss redistricting

SAN DIEGO -- The Hillcrest Town Council (HTC) will discuss City Council redistricting during its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 12.

The council welcomes the entire community to the meeting, which will start at 6:30 pm at the Joyce Beers Community Center ( map location 6-B) in the Uptown Shopping District.

As part of the redistricting discussion, Midori Wong, chief of staff for the city's Redistricting Commission, will address the group and give an overview of the process and the work of the commission that she staffs and supports.

Community activist Linda Perrine will speak, representing the goals of the LGBT Task Force on Redistricting.

Hillcrest resident and HTC board member Dave McCulloch will also give a presentation on his redistricting ideas, including the creation of a Heritage District.

The redistricting discussion will be structured as an open conversation and community members will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn about the process, and find out how to get involved.

The newest board members of the HTC will also be introduced at the meeting. Anne Haule, McCulloch and Ann Garwood were elected to three vacant board seats at the March 8 meeting.

Finally, the group plans to discuss parking issues in Hillcrest, and will present to the group a motion made by the Hillcrest Parking Committee. "Everyone knows parking is a problem in our community. We've got some ideas on how to fix them," the group said in a statement.

The HTC was formed to provide a voice and enhance the quality of life for Hillcrest renters and homeowners, while supporting actions that benefit the neighborhood. For more information about HTC or the meeting, click HERE.
