SAN DIEGO – As part of its continued effort to find a sustainable space for Occupy San Diego, Canvass For A Cause (CFAC) is reaching out to the community to educate the public about what the Occupy movement is fight for, why it is important, and how they can get involved.
CFAC will host a special event today called “Knock 4 An Occupation,” modeled after its canvassing outreach program. Volunteers are being sought to go door to door from 10 am to 4 pm.
The day will being with a training at the San Diego Civic Center Plaza, which is the location of the Occupy San Diego protest. Volunteers will learn how to talk about the issues and be given a script with talking points and questions that may be posed. CFAC says that its model is quite successful and has given the organization a 38% persuasion rate on its LGBT rights issues outreach.
“This is the best way to support our occupation – getting more people involved and clarifying our message to the public,” CFAC organizers say.
Canvassers will go door to door in Hillcrest and canvass the streets of Downtown. CFAC has plans to canvass in other neighborhoods on future Saturdays.
The Civic Center Plaza is located Third Avenue and B Street in Downtown.
