For the first time ever, the California State Capitol building raised the rainbow flag on its flagpole in celebration of National Gay Pride Month,

At the request of California Governor Gavin Newsom the flag was elevated on Monday and will remain there until July 1.

Same-sex couples in Ecuador have a reason to celebrate this week as the country's highest court legalized same-sex marriage on Wednesday. 

Five members of the nine in the Constitutional Court voted in favor of the law as a result of two cases they heard involving two same-sex couples who wanted to marry.

Motorcycle vandalists could face hate crime charges for defacing Pride crosswalk

A new $30,000 rainbow crosswalk unveiled in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Monday, June 3 was quickly defaced when about a dozen motorcyclists took the opportunity to burn rubber and leave tire marks across it.

The vandals could face a hefty fine or be charged with a hate crime if caught.
